This is a college project for my Digital Illustration's class called, "Zentangle."
Our goal for this assignment was to create a zentangle piece of art. If you're not familiar with what zentangle is- it's a form of meditative doodling that has patterns, or tangles, put together to form a Zen-tangle.  We were to create a piece of art using one letter from the alphabet, A-Z. So with my first name starting with J (and my last), I of course chose that letter. Not only did we have to complete one finished piece, we had to create a second one with one being in black & white, and one being in color. We couldn't choose a skinny letter as that would not make our piece interesting to look at, nor would it give us room to show our creativity, so I used font "Forte."

Now that I had the font type down, it was time to decide what shapes I wanted to do. I looked at many examples of zentangle to get a feel of what types of shapes I wanted to create. I didn't want to do too many simple designs and I didn't want to do too many complex designs. I also didn't want to pack in a bunch of random designs, I wanted my overall piece to have a theme. I saw a few example's of zentangle flowers and thought that it would be a perfect idea.

Below is my finished black & white piece with a finished drop shadow.
After finishing the black & white piece, it was then time to color it. I originally had an idea to make each flower a different color palette. Ex.) one flower with pinks and blues, another flower with oranges and reds, etc. Then I thought it would be best to stick with just one. So what did I do next? I headed on over to "coolers.com" to explore a variety of color palettes. There were so many to choose from, but I just went with something warm and appealing to the eye.

Below is my color palette of choice in CMYK.
I tried to pick a palette that was fairly large.

Last but not least is my finished color version of the zentangle!
