Movie Poster Project
This is the start of my minimalistic movie poster. I chose to illustrate the 2023 film "Barbie." I started by sketching ideas onto paper and exploring different layouts.
Some feedback that I got from the first round of sketches were that none of my designs were dynamic, not to mention they were drawn in the wrong size. So I brainstormed and tried my best to come up with better ideas.
I decided to go with thumbnail #2, so I refined the sketch and drew it larger with more detail.
An idea that my professor had was to use a "paper-cut style," which I thought was brilliant.
Here he added a burst effect in the background to show an idea, which I also thought was brilliant.
Here is the color comp that I had made to show the colors that I could use. We were only allowed to use 5 colors, plus black and white.
Here is the finished piece, equipped with a paper-cut style, 5 colors, and minimalism.
